Lo cierto es que esta palabra, \u00abgiro\u00bb, <strong>se usa en el mundo de la f\u00edsica con al menos cuatro significados distintos<\/strong>. No es de extra\u00f1ar que cause confusi\u00f3n. Giroscopio (Gyroscope)<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u30fb Giroscopio \u3000Peonzas, sensores del m\u00f3vil<\/p>\n<p>Lo primero y m\u00e1s b\u00e1sico es el <b>giroscopio<\/b>, que es el <strong>nombre de un aparato o instrumento<\/strong>. Cualquier objeto que gira a gran velocidad, como una peonza o la rueda de una bicicleta, entra en esta categor\u00eda. S\u00ed, ahora mismo tienes un giroscopio en el bolsillo.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Efecto girosc\u00f3pico (Gyroscopic Effect)<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Efecto girosc\u00f3pico \u3000\u3000La tendencia a mantener el eje de giro<\/p>\n<p>Pasemos al <b>efecto girosc\u00f3pico<\/b>: <strong>la propiedad por la cual un objeto que gira tiende a mantener la direcci\u00f3n de su eje de rotaci\u00f3n, aunque se le aplique una fuerza desde fuera<\/strong>. Gracias a \u00e9l, una bicicleta en marcha cuesta m\u00e1s que se caiga, y una peonza sigue de pie mientras da vueltas y vueltas. Para cambiar de direcci\u00f3n en el espacio sin usar motores, existe un mecanismo llamado \u00abrueda de reacci\u00f3n\u00bb, que modifica el giro de un giroscopio para orientar la nave. Eso es la <b>precesi\u00f3n<\/b>. Eso s\u00ed, <strong>en sentido estricto es un fen\u00f3meno distinto del efecto girosc\u00f3pico (la propiedad de mantener el eje)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Lo sorprendente es que la Tierra tambi\u00e9n hace este movimiento. Su eje de rotaci\u00f3n se bambolea lentamente con un ciclo de unos <b>26.000 a\u00f1os<\/b>, y por eso la estrella polar cambia con las \u00e9pocas. En tiempos del antiguo Egipto, la \u00abestrella polar\u00bb era otra distinta de la de hoy.<\/p>\n<h3>4. Rotaci\u00f3n helicoidal (Helical \/ Spiral Motion)<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Rotaci\u00f3n helicoidal Girar mientras se avanza<\/p>\n<p>Piensa en una bala o en un bal\u00f3n de rugby cuando vuelan: avanzan en l\u00ednea recta mientras giran sobre s\u00ed mismos. Eso es la <b>rotaci\u00f3n helicoidal<\/b> (o en espiral), tambi\u00e9n conocida como \u00abspin\u00bb o efecto. A veces se le llama \u00abgiro girosc\u00f3pico\u00bb, pero en sentido estricto <strong>es un concepto distinto al del giroscopio<\/strong>.
