La idea del programa es reunir a profesionales de distintos campos para enfrentarse a desaf\u00edos cient\u00edficos que parecen imposibles. Como me hab\u00edan encargado la parte cient\u00edfica, particip\u00e9 desde las primeras reuniones de planificaci\u00f3n, haciendo c\u00e1lculos y experimentos preliminares sobre aspectos como la longitud de la cuerda y la forma de tirar del mantel. Hasta que se emiti\u00f3 el programa, yo solo conoc\u00eda fragmentos de lo que se estaba preparando y no sab\u00eda c\u00f3mo quedar\u00eda el conjunto. Pero cuando finalmente vi el programa terminado, me pareci\u00f3 realmente divertido y muy bien hecho. \u00a1La gente de la televisi\u00f3n es incre\u00edble!<\/p>\n<p>Retirar un mantel de debajo de los objetos no es simplemente un truco de magia o un espect\u00e1culo: <strong>es f\u00edsica en estado puro<\/strong>. Es un tema accesible tanto para ni\u00f1os como para adultos y, al mismo tiempo, una excelente puerta de entrada para despertar el inter\u00e9s por la f\u00edsica de verdad. Yo trabajo con la idea de compartir con la sociedad un mundo de ciencia divertido y lleno de sorpresas, y de despertar la curiosidad por disfrutar de la ciencia. Por eso, cuando me propusieron este reto, pens\u00e9: \u00a1quiero intentarlo!<\/p>\n<p>Yo mismo ya hab\u00eda realizado una <a href=\"https:\/\/phys-edu.net\/wp\/?p=56186\">investigaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica sobre el truco de retirar el mantel<\/a>. Sin embargo, nunca hab\u00eda intentado hacerlo con un mantel de 12 metros y, adem\u00e1s, se trataba de un montaje enorme. Por eso, cuando escuch\u00e9 la propuesta, me emocion\u00e9 much\u00edsimo. Aun as\u00ed, esta vez intent\u00e9 explicarles los conceptos utilizando diversos materiales y experimentos. Algunas partes no llegaron a emitirse, pero hicimos el juego japon\u00e9s de \u00abdaruma otoshi\u00bb, experimentamos con un aerodeslizador e incluso tuvimos una clase de f\u00edsica bastante normal. \u00a1Hice todo lo posible para que lo entendieran!<\/p>\n<p>Entre todos esos conceptos, les expliqu\u00e9 brevemente la \u00abinercia\u00bb, que es una de las claves del experimento. La inercia es la propiedad por la que \u00abun objeto que est\u00e1 en reposo tiende a seguir en reposo, y un objeto que est\u00e1 en movimiento tiende a seguir movi\u00e9ndose\u00bb. \u00bfAlguna vez la has sentido en situaciones cotidianas como estas?<\/p>\n<p>Cuando un autob\u00fas arranca bruscamente: tu cuerpo intenta \u00abseguir quieto en el mismo lugar\u00bb, mientras que tus pies avanzan con el autob\u00fas gracias a la fricci\u00f3n. Por eso, sientes que tu cuerpo se inclina hacia atr\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando un autob\u00fas frena de repente: tu cuerpo intenta \u00abseguir movi\u00e9ndose\u00bb, pero tus pies se detienen junto con el autob\u00fas, as\u00ed que parece que vas a caer hacia delante.<\/p>\n<p>El juguete japon\u00e9s \u00abdaruma otoshi\u00bb tambi\u00e9n es un experimento que aprovecha esta inercia. Si golpeamos y retiramos r\u00e1pidamente el bloque de abajo, el mu\u00f1eco de arriba intenta \u00abpermanecer donde est\u00e1\u00bb y cae verticalmente hacia abajo.<\/p>\n<p>El truco de retirar el mantel funciona exactamente con el mismo principio. Queremos que los platos permanezcan en su sitio. Pero en la realidad aparece un enemigo: la <strong>fuerza de fricci\u00f3n<\/strong>. Existe fricci\u00f3n entre los platos y el mantel, as\u00ed que cuando tiramos del mantel, los platos tambi\u00e9n tienden a ser arrastrados.<\/p>\n<p>Lo interesante y sorprendente de la fricci\u00f3n es que, cuando un objeto est\u00e1 en reposo, la fuerza de fricci\u00f3n puede aumentar progresivamente hasta alcanzar un valor m\u00e1ximo, que viene determinado por el coeficiente de fricci\u00f3n est\u00e1tica y la fuerza normal. Aunque se trata de una regla que conocemos por experiencia, su explicaci\u00f3n a escala microsc\u00f3pica todav\u00eda no est\u00e1 completamente esclarecida. \u00a1En realidad, la fricci\u00f3n es una fuerza de lo m\u00e1s misteriosa!<\/p>\n<p>En el programa expliqu\u00e9 la fricci\u00f3n mediante la idea de las peque\u00f1as irregularidades de las superficies, pero en realidad tambi\u00e9n intervienen otros factores, como:<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbLa fuerza necesaria para romper enlaces a nivel at\u00f3mico (teor\u00eda de la adhesi\u00f3n)<\/p>\n<p>\u30fbLa fuerza necesaria para deformar y abrirse paso en el material de la otra superficie<\/p>\n<p>Se considera que la teor\u00eda de la adhesi\u00f3n es uno de los factores m\u00e1s importantes. <a href=\"https:\/\/phys-edu.net\/wp\/?p=27841\">Aqu\u00ed puedes encontrar una explicaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s detallada<\/a>. Colocamos dos coches con la misma potencia y nos planteamos el reto de conseguir que uno de ellos ganara introduciendo alg\u00fan tipo de modificaci\u00f3n. \u00bfQu\u00e9 pod\u00edamos hacer? En el mundo de la ciencia y la tecnolog\u00eda, hemos aprendido a controlar esta fuerza de formas cada vez m\u00e1s sofisticadas.<\/p>\n<p>Curling: se pule la superficie del hielo para reducir la fricci\u00f3n al m\u00ednimo.<\/p>\n<p>Aerodeslizador: se utiliza aire para elevar el veh\u00edculo y reducir la fuerza normal, disminuyendo as\u00ed la fricci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>Tren de levitaci\u00f3n magn\u00e9tica superconductora: el veh\u00edculo levita mediante fuerzas magn\u00e9ticas, reduciendo la fricci\u00f3n pr\u00e1cticamente a cero y permitiendo alcanzar velocidades de 500 km\/h.<\/p>\n<p>El reto de esta ocasi\u00f3n depend\u00eda de una cuesti\u00f3n fundamental: <strong>c\u00f3mo reducir la fricci\u00f3n y aprovechar al m\u00e1ximo la inercia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Cuatro claves para conseguir retirar el mantel<\/h3>\n<p>Por eso, la estrategia que propuse a Chocolate Planet para conseguir retirar el mantel de 12 metros se basaba en los siguientes cuatro puntos.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Una velocidad extraordinaria<\/strong> Deb\u00edamos reducir al m\u00ednimo el tiempo durante el cual actuaba la fricci\u00f3n cin\u00e9tica. Si retir\u00e1bamos el mantel en un instante, los platos apenas tendr\u00edan tiempo de moverse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No crear arrugas<\/strong> Si el mantel forma arrugas, estas pueden actuar como una \u00abpared\u00bb que empuja los platos. Si hubi\u00e9ramos utilizado platos algo m\u00e1s pesados para aumentar la inercia y hacerlos m\u00e1s resistentes a las arrugas, probablemente habr\u00edamos incrementado a\u00fan m\u00e1s la probabilidad de \u00e9xito. Por ejemplo, podr\u00edamos haber colocado una manzana sobre cada plato o haber prescindido de los cuchillos y tenedores.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u3010\u00a1Una oportunidad m\u00e1s!\u3011<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Es un reto extremadamente dif\u00edcil, pero podr\u00edamos utilizar un tablero de 12 metros hecho de una sola pieza, sin juntas. Otra posibilidad ser\u00eda colocar otro mantel debajo del principal y fijarlo para evitar que el aire entrara. Los experimentos est\u00e1n llenos de fracasos\u2026 \u00a1y yo quiero volver a intentarlo!<\/p>\n<p>Al principio daba por hecho que tendr\u00edamos otra oportunidad, pero por diversas circunstancias solo pudimos hacerlo una vez y ah\u00ed termin\u00f3 el reto. <strong>Me qued\u00e9 con una sensaci\u00f3n de frustraci\u00f3n enorme<\/strong>. Aun as\u00ed, si pensamos que conseguimos obtener nuevos datos, creo que fue un experimento muy valioso.<\/p>\n<h3>Cada d\u00eda es un experimento.<\/h3>\n<p>Debido a las limitaciones de tiempo del rodaje, solo tuvimos una oportunidad. Me duele mucho no haber podido repetir el experimento, pero esa tambi\u00e9n es la realidad de la ciencia.<\/p>\n<p>En ciencia no existen los \u00abfracasos\u00bb. Solo existen \u00abdatos que nos indican que algo no funcion\u00f3 como esper\u00e1bamos\u00bb. Nos enfrentamos a un territorio desconocido de 12 metros utilizando c\u00e1lculos y teor\u00eda, pero un fen\u00f3meno f\u00edsico inesperado, las \u00abarrugas\u00bb, se interpuso en nuestro camino.
