En realidad, este fen\u00f3meno, que suele prestarse a muchos malentendidos, es bastante m\u00e1s profundo de lo que parece cuando intentamos explicarlo con precisi\u00f3n cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n<h3>La trampa de la expresi\u00f3n \u00abimagen virtual\u00bb<\/h3>\n<p>Cuando explico qu\u00e9 es una imagen virtual, a veces tambi\u00e9n recurro a expresiones como \u00abvemos algo que en realidad no existe\u00bb o \u00abes una cuesti\u00f3n de percepci\u00f3n\u00bb. Sin embargo, siempre he tenido la sensaci\u00f3n de que esa explicaci\u00f3n no acaba de ser correcta. Entonces me puse a darle vueltas a c\u00f3mo explicarlo de una manera m\u00e1s precisa. Si buscamos el t\u00e9rmino \u00abimagen virtual\u00bb en Kotobank, encontramos la siguiente explicaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>En general, podemos ver un objeto porque los rayos de luz que proceden de \u00e9l llegan a nuestros ojos y forman una imagen del objeto sobre la retina. Sin embargo, aunque el objeto no exista f\u00edsicamente, si llegan al ojo rayos de luz que se encuentran en el mismo estado que tendr\u00edan si el objeto estuviera presente, podemos percibir ese objeto inexistente. <b>Pero no es correcto considerar este fen\u00f3meno como una alucinaci\u00f3n o una ilusi\u00f3n.<\/b> En principio, no existe ning\u00fan m\u00e9todo para distinguir entre los rayos de luz procedentes de un objeto real y los rayos de luz asociados a una imagen virtual. Pero, en realidad, la luz que llega a nuestros ojos es completamente real. Lo \u00fanico que ocurre es que la posici\u00f3n aparente de la fuente de esa luz no coincide con la posici\u00f3n real del objeto.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">En realidad, ver un objeto significa interpretar la informaci\u00f3n contenida en la luz que llega a la retina (que se convierte en se\u00f1ales el\u00e9ctricas, se env\u00eda al cerebro y all\u00ed se construye una imagen). Esto ocurre tanto con las im\u00e1genes reales como con las virtuales. Lo mismo sucede con una c\u00e1mara digital. Por eso, no se trata simplemente de una cuesti\u00f3n de percepci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Aqu\u00ed est\u00e1 precisamente uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s interesantes. Tanto nuestros ojos como una c\u00e1mara digital son, en esencia, \u00absensores de luz\u00bb que reciben la luz y la transforman en una imagen. Del mismo modo que el sensor de una c\u00e1mara no toma una fotograf\u00eda bas\u00e1ndose en una \u00abidea preconcebida\u00bb, nuestros ojos simplemente procesan la luz que reciben. Dicho de otro modo, ver una imagen virtual no es un error del cerebro, sino el resultado de que este sofisticado sistema \u00f3ptico llamado ojo procesa correctamente la informaci\u00f3n que recibe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/phys-edu.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/908971667e532a4972a2eb00197ba5e7-300x223.jpg\" alt=\"\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30f3\u30b7\u30e7\u30c3\u30c8 2014-01-30 21.01.39\" width=\"468\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Imagen real e imagen virtual: \u00bfcu\u00e1l es la diferencia fundamental?<\/h3>\n<p>Si hablamos de la diferencia entre una imagen real y una imagen virtual, en el caso de una imagen real, la luz converge realmente en un punto determinado. Si colocamos una pantalla all\u00ed, la luz se dispersa al reflejarse en ella. Por eso, aunque cambiemos nuestra posici\u00f3n de observaci\u00f3n, seguimos viendo el objeto como si estuviera f\u00edsicamente all\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>La imagen proyectada sobre la pantalla de un cine es un ejemplo perfecto de imagen real. La luz que ha atravesado la lente realmente converge en ese lugar, de modo que, al colocar una \u00absuperficie receptora\u00bb como una pantalla, cualquiera puede ver la misma imagen. Incluso si cambiamos el \u00e1ngulo desde el que la observamos, la imagen sigue estando all\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p>En cambio, en el caso de una imagen virtual, la luz no se concentra realmente en ese lugar.
