Every day is an experiment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Si alguien te dijera: \u00abConstruye un pato usando seis bloques\u00bb, \u00bfqu\u00e9 tipo de pato imaginar\u00edas? Pues resulta que, aunque toda una clase reciba exactamente las mismas piezas y las mismas instrucciones, es pr\u00e1cticamente imposible que dos alumnos construyan exactamente el mismo pato. Hoy quiero contarles c\u00f3mo esta peque\u00f1a actividad de \u00abconstruir un pato\u00bb cambi\u00f3, poco a poco, la manera en que mis alumnos se enfrentan a los experimentos de ciencias.<\/p>\n<p>Decirles a los alumnos \u00ab\u00a1Sed m\u00e1s aut\u00f3nomos!\u00bb o \u00ab\u00a1Participad m\u00e1s!\u00bb no suele ser suficiente. Pero, por otro lado, cuando hacen un experimento sin tener muy claro para qu\u00e9 lo est\u00e1n haciendo, sus conclusiones tienden a parecerse demasiado a una simple copia del libro de texto. Lo que realmente quiero es que sean capaces de mirar los resultados de un experimento y pensar por s\u00ed mismos qu\u00e9 pueden deducir de ellos.<\/p>\n<p>Por eso decid\u00ed probar una actividad con LEGO Education que llamo \u00abel taller del pato\u00bb. Lo interesante es que solo hay seis piezas, y pueden utilizar todas o solo algunas para crear su dise\u00f1o. Se las explican y cuentan qu\u00e9 han intentado representar y por qu\u00e9 han colocado cada pieza de esa manera.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 has puesto el pico ah\u00ed? \u2014 Descubrimientos que nacen del di\u00e1logo<\/h3>\n<p>Los alumnos ponen en palabras sus propias ideas y decisiones, explicando, por ejemplo, \u00abhe puesto el pico aqu\u00ed porque\u2026\u00bb. Despu\u00e9s, los dem\u00e1s les hacen preguntas. Sin embargo, cuando colocamos todos los modelos juntos, sorprende descubrir la enorme variedad de \u00abpatos\u00bb que han imaginado los alumnos.<\/p>\n<p>No hay dos iguales. En teor\u00eda, con dos bloques b\u00e1sicos de ocho salientes se pueden formar 24 combinaciones diferentes. Con tres bloques, la cifra asciende a 1060, y con seis bloques se pueden crear nada menos que unos 900 millones de formas distintas. Cada vez que a\u00f1adimos un bloque, el n\u00famero de posibilidades se dispara.<\/p>\n<p>Es otro de esos peque\u00f1os mundos matem\u00e1ticos fascinantes que se esconden detr\u00e1s de algo tan sencillo como jugar con bloques.<\/p>\n<p>Lo importante es que ninguna de las creaciones es \u00abincorrecta\u00bb. Cada alumno tiene en su cabeza una imagen diferente de c\u00f3mo debe ser un pato. Y esta actividad permite verlo con absoluta claridad. Adem\u00e1s, al observar las creaciones de los dem\u00e1s, los alumnos empiezan a descubrir de forma natural lo interesantes que son otras maneras de pensar. No es raro escuchar por toda la clase comentarios como \u00ab\u00a1Ah, as\u00ed tambi\u00e9n se puede hacer!\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h3>En el mundo real tampoco existe una \u00fanica \u00abrespuesta\u00bb<\/h3>\n<p>En los problemas del mundo real, rara vez existe una \u00fanica respuesta. De hecho, muchas veces ni siquiera est\u00e1 claro cu\u00e1l es exactamente el problema que tenemos delante. Como demuestra este sencillo ejemplo del pato, los temas que propone el profesor, las formas de orientar a los alumnos y las respuestas que pueden encontrar son potencialmente infinitos. Parece que una de las ideas centrales de LEGO es precisamente que esta diversidad es una de las grandes riquezas de las personas.<\/p>\n<p>Yo utilizo esta actividad de esta manera, pero existen muchas otras posibilidades. Por ejemplo, un profesor de Biolog\u00eda me cont\u00f3 que utiliza este taller al comienzo de una clase sobre clasificaci\u00f3n y, despu\u00e9s, pide a los alumnos que clasifiquen los patos que han construido. Patos con patas y patos sin patas. Patos con el pico rojo y patos con el pico amarillo. De esta forma, los alumnos practican c\u00f3mo clasificar objetos desde distintos puntos de vista.
