Descubriendo los secretos del aislamiento s\u00edsmico con un experimento"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #339966;\"><strong>Soy Ken Kuwako, Science Trainer. \u00a1Cada d\u00eda es un experimento!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Si ahora mismo ocurriera un gran terremoto, \u00bfc\u00f3mo se mover\u00eda tu casa?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">En realidad, existen tres grandes enfoques para proteger los edificios frente a los terremotos: \u00abresistencia s\u00edsmica\u00bb, \u00abcontrol de vibraciones\u00bb y \u00abaislamiento s\u00edsmico\u00bb. De ellos, la resistencia s\u00edsmica es relativamente f\u00e1cil de imaginar, ya que consiste en hacer que el propio edificio sea m\u00e1s resistente para soportar las sacudidas. En cambio, el control de vibraciones y el aislamiento s\u00edsmico suelen confundirse porque sus nombres pueden resultar parecidos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Esta vez vamos a centrarnos en el <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">aislamiento s\u00edsmico<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">, una idea especialmente ingeniosa, y vamos a hacer visible su funcionamiento mediante un sencillo experimento con objetos cotidianos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>\u00bfEn qu\u00e9 consiste exactamente el aislamiento s\u00edsmico?<\/h3>\n<p><b>El aislamiento s\u00edsmico<\/b> es, literalmente, una forma de \u00ablibrar al edificio de las sacudidas\u00bb. La clave est\u00e1 en colocar una capa de dispositivos de aislamiento entre el edificio y el suelo. Para ello se utilizan elementos especiales, como caucho, aisladores de caucho laminado y apoyos deslizantes. Gracias a ellos, aunque el suelo se mueva violentamente, las sacudidas no se transmiten directamente al edificio.<\/p>\n<p>Al \u00abseparar\u00bb el suelo del edificio, este \u00faltimo no tiene que recibir de lleno toda la energ\u00eda del terremoto. De hecho, en edificios de gran altura, hospitales y centros de datos que utilizan estructuras con aislamiento s\u00edsmico, se sabe que los da\u00f1os en el interior pueden reducirse considerablemente incluso durante grandes terremotos. Al moverse todo el edificio de manera lenta y suave, se consigue proteger a las personas, los equipos y, por supuesto, al propio edificio.<\/p>\n<h3>Preparaci\u00f3n del experimento: recreamos el \u00absuelo\u00bb con un carro grande de Narika<\/h3>\n<p>Para este experimento utilizaremos un carro grande de Narika, muy conocido por quienes trabajan con materiales educativos de ciencias, y un modelo de edificio hecho a mano. Colocamos el modelo de edificio directamente sobre el carro grande. Esta situaci\u00f3n representa un edificio convencional, sin ning\u00fan sistema de aislamiento s\u00edsmico, construido directamente sobre el suelo.<\/p>\n<p>Ahora movemos r\u00e1pidamente el carro de un lado a otro. \u00a1Ha comenzado el terremoto! El resultado es evidente: el edificio se sacude violentamente. Se puede comprobar perfectamente c\u00f3mo el movimiento del suelo se transmite pr\u00e1cticamente sin cambios al edificio. Sobre el carro grande, que representa el suelo, colocamos otro carro m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o y, encima de este, el modelo de edificio. De esta manera, el carro peque\u00f1o har\u00e1 las veces del \u00abdispositivo de aislamiento s\u00edsmico\u00bb que conecta el edificio con el suelo.<\/p>\n<p>Volvemos a mover el carro grande y\u2026 \u00a1el edificio pr\u00e1cticamente no se mueve! Aunque el \u00absuelo\u00bb (el carro grande) se desplaza violentamente, las ruedas del carro peque\u00f1o absorben buena parte del movimiento. Sin embargo, verlo con tus propios ojos resulta realmente sorprendente. La idea de \u00abcolocar un mecanismo que permita escapar a las vibraciones entre el suelo y el edificio\u00bb es precisamente la esencia del aislamiento s\u00edsmico.
