En esta ocasi\u00f3n, te presentamos una actividad de clase en la que utilizamos una c\u00e1mara de niebla casera para observar las huellas de las part\u00edculas alfa emitidas por la uraninita, un mineral naturalmente radiactivo.<\/p>\n<p>La c\u00e1mara de niebla es un aparato experimental muy popular en museos y centros de divulgaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica. Sin embargo, reunir los materiales y construirla uno mismo proporciona una sensaci\u00f3n de \u00abhacer ciencia\u00bb completamente distinta de la que se obtiene simplemente observando una exposici\u00f3n. En esta ocasi\u00f3n utilizamos el kit de c\u00e1mara de niebla de \u539f\u5b50\u529b\u30a8\u30f3\u30b8\u30cb\u30a2\u30ea\u30f3\u30b0\u682a\u5f0f\u4f1a\u793e. Como existe un gradiente de temperatura producido por el hielo seco, el gas del interior circula de arriba abajo y se mantiene en unas condiciones en las que un peque\u00f1o est\u00edmulo puede hacer que el gas se transforme en l\u00edquido. Cuando colocamos en este espacio una fuente radiactiva (uraninita), al emitirse part\u00edculas alfa aparecen unas trazas que recuerdan a las estelas de los aviones en el cielo.<\/p>\n<p>Las part\u00edculas alfa se detienen incluso con una simple hoja de papel y recorren tan solo unos pocos cent\u00edmetros. Sin embargo, a su paso generan numerosos iones, que act\u00faan como n\u00facleos de condensaci\u00f3n y hacen que el vapor de etanol se condense. De este modo, podemos ver a simple vista las \u00abhuellas\u00bb de la radiaci\u00f3n. Si iluminamos desde un lateral con una luz LED, las finas trazas blancas se vuelven mucho m\u00e1s visibles. Es uno de esos momentos en los que los ni\u00f1os no pueden evitar exclamar: \u00ab\u00a1Guau!\u00bb.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">La uraninita como mineral<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>La fuente radiactiva utilizada fue la uraninita (uraninite). Es un mineral que contiene una gran cantidad de uranio y cuya composici\u00f3n est\u00e1 formada principalmente por di\u00f3xido de uranio (UO\u2082). Cristaliza en el sistema c\u00fabico, tiene una dureza de 5\u20136 y una densidad relativa de 7,5\u201310, por lo que es un mineral extraordinariamente pesado. Preparar la base: coloca una placa de aluminio sobre el hielo seco y estabil\u00edzala con una toalla o una bandeja.<\/p>\n<p>2. Colocar la fuente radiactiva: fija la fuente radiactiva (uraninita) en el extremo de un alambre de goma, introd\u00facela en la c\u00e1mara y cierra la tapa.<\/p>\n<p>4.
