Kun sen kuitenkin kokoaa itse ja perehtyy siihen, miten se toimii, kokemus on aivan erilainen kuin pelkk\u00e4 n\u00e4yttelylaitteen katselu. Se on runsaasti uraania sis\u00e4lt\u00e4v\u00e4 mineraali, jonka koostumus on p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa uraanidioksidia (UO\u2082). Sen kiderakenne kuuluu kuutiolliseen eli isometriseen kidej\u00e4rjestelm\u00e4\u00e4n. Kovuus on 5\u20136 ja ominaispaino 7,5\u201310, joten kyseess\u00e4 on eritt\u00e4in raskas mineraali.
