Esa curiosa sensaci\u00f3n tiene un responsable: el empuje o fuerza de flotaci\u00f3n. Es la misma fuerza que hace que una persona pueda flotar en una piscina y que un enorme barco de acero permanezca sobre la superficie del mar.<\/p>\n<p>Pero \u00bfde qu\u00e9 depende realmente esa fuerza? \u00bfAumenta cuanto m\u00e1s profundo se hunde un objeto? \u00bfLos objetos m\u00e1s pesados reciben un mayor empuje? Para responder a estas preguntas, realizamos un experimento muy sencillo utilizando \u00fanicamente un bote de carrete fotogr\u00e1fico y unas pesas. Primero medimos el peso del objeto en el aire con un dinam\u00f3metro. Despu\u00e9s lo sumergimos en el agua y volvemos a medir su peso aparente. Medir el peso en el aire<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Colgamos el bote con las pesas dentro del dinam\u00f3metro y registramos su peso antes de introducirlo en el agua.<\/p>\n<p>Realizamos dos pruebas. Hundirlo todav\u00eda m\u00e1s<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Con el bote completamente sumergido, lo bajamos a una mayor profundidad y volvemos a medir. Repetir con otro peso<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cambiamos las pesas y repetimos exactamente el mismo procedimiento. Comparando objetos con diferente peso podremos comprobar cu\u00e1l es la verdadera relaci\u00f3n entre el peso y el empuje.<\/p>\n<h3>Resultados y an\u00e1lisis<\/h3>\n<p>Estos fueron los resultados obtenidos. Es f\u00e1cil pensar que un objeto m\u00e1s pesado deber\u00eda recibir un mayor empuje, pero en realidad no es as\u00ed. Habr\u00eda sido interesante hacer otra prueba variando el volumen para comparar ambas situaciones de forma m\u00e1s evidente.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u2022 La profundidad no cambia el empuje (una vez que el objeto est\u00e1 completamente sumergido)<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mientras solo una parte del bote est\u00e1 dentro del agua, el empuje aumenta a medida que se va introduciendo. Sin embargo, una vez que el objeto queda totalmente sumergido, el empuje permanece constante, aunque se siga hundiendo hasta una mayor profundidad.<\/p>\n<p>Lo mismo ocurre con los peces que viven en las profundidades o con los submarinos. Un submarino no asciende ni desciende porque cambie el empuje con la profundidad, sino porque introduce o expulsa agua y aire de sus tanques para modificar su peso y su volumen. Este sencillo experimento ayuda a comprender el mismo principio f\u00edsico que utilizan estas impresionantes m\u00e1quinas.<\/p>\n<p>La conclusi\u00f3n es muy clara: el empuje depende del volumen sumergido, no del peso del objeto. Ese es el verdadero secreto. Adem\u00e1s, uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s interesantes del experimento es que permite convertir una fuerza invisible en un valor num\u00e9rico gracias al dinam\u00f3metro.<\/p>\n<p>Con materiales muy sencillos es posible comprender uno de los conceptos m\u00e1s importantes de la f\u00edsica.
