Oli l\u00e4hes taianomaista n\u00e4hd\u00e4, kuinka t\u00e4ysin kirkas neste muuttui hetkess\u00e4 maidonvalkoiseksi.<\/p>\n<p>Mutta miksi pelkk\u00e4 hiilidioksidi saa nesteen muuttumaan valkoiseksi? Vastaus on yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4: kemiassa t\u00e4t\u00e4 pidet\u00e4\u00e4n er\u00e4\u00e4nlaisena <b>laajasti m\u00e4\u00e4riteltyn\u00e4 neutraloitumisreaktiona<\/b>. Kalkkiveden tapauksessa tapahtumat n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t kuitenkin hieman erilaisilta. Taustalla piilee yksi t\u00e4rke\u00e4 &#8220;syyllinen&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3>Syyllinen on &#8220;veteen huonosti liukeneva pieni kivi&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>Kalkkivesi on em\u00e4ksinen liuos, jossa on liuenneena <b>kalsiumhydroksidia<\/b>. Sama yhdiste muodostaa simpukankuoret, korallit, liidun ja jopa marmorin. Sen t\u00e4rkein ominaisuus on kuitenkin se, ett\u00e4 <b>se liukenee veteen eritt\u00e4in huonosti<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Kuvittele, ett\u00e4 kirkkaaseen veteen ilmestyy valtava m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 niin pieni\u00e4 kivihiukkasia, ettei niit\u00e4 voi n\u00e4hd\u00e4 paljain silmin. Kun valo osuu n\u00e4ihin hiukkasiin, se siroaa joka suuntaan. Siksi neste n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 meille valkoisen samealta.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Em\u00e4s:<\/b> kalsiumhydroksidi (kalkkivesi)<\/li>\n<li><b>Happo:<\/b> hiilidioksidi (toimii vedess\u00e4 happona)<\/li>\n<li><b>Suola:<\/b> kalsiumkarbonaatti (valkoisen sameuden aiheuttava &#8220;kivi&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li><b>Vesi<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Em\u00e4ksinen kalkkivesi kohtaa happaman hiilidioksidin, niiden ominaisuudet kumoavat toisensa ja syntyy suolaa sek\u00e4 vett\u00e4. T\u00e4sm\u00e4lleen neutraloitumisreaktion mukaisesti!<\/p>\n<h3>Yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4 k\u00e4\u00e4nne \u2013 miksi neste muuttuu j\u00e4lleen kirkkaaksi?<\/h3>\n<p>Tarina ei kuitenkaan p\u00e4\u00e4ty t\u00e4h\u00e4n. Salaisuus piilee liukoisuudessa<\/h3>\n<p>Saatat mietti\u00e4: &#8220;Jos neutraloituminen aiheuttaa sameutta, eik\u00f6 suolahappokin tekisi saman?&#8221; Erinomainen kysymys! Vastaus on kuitenkin ei \u2013 <b>suolahappo ei sameuta kalkkivett\u00e4<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Kun kalkkiveteen lis\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4n suolahappoa, neutraloitumisreaktio kyll\u00e4 tapahtuu.<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div class=\"math-block\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-math=\"Ca(OH)_2 + 2HCl \\longrightarrow CaCl_2 + 2H_2O\">\\[Ca(OH)_2 + 2HCl \\longrightarrow CaCl_2 + 2H_2O\\]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>T\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertaa muodostuva suola on <b>kalsiumkloridi<\/b>. Toisin kuin kalsiumkarbonaatti, <b>kalsiumkloridi liukenee veteen eritt\u00e4in hyvin<\/b>. Se hajoaa n\u00e4kym\u00e4tt\u00f6miksi ioneiksi, joten liuos pysyy t\u00e4ysin kirkkaana.<\/p>\n<h3>Mik\u00e4 saa liuoksen muuttumaan valkoiseksi?<\/h3>\n<p>Yhteenvetona voidaan sanoa, ett\u00e4 kemiallinen reaktio aiheuttaa valkoisen sameuden vain silloin, kun syntyv\u00e4 aine <b>liukenee huonosti veteen eli muodostaa sakkaa<\/b>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Hiilidioksidi + kalkkivesi:<\/b> muodostuu veteen liukenematonta kalsiumkarbonaattia \u2192 <b>liuos samenee!<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Suolahappo + kalkkivesi:<\/b> muodostuu hyvin liukenevaa kalsiumkloridia \u2192 <b>liuos pysyy kirkkaana!<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Juuri t\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi kalkkivesi toimii erinomaisena &#8220;etsiv\u00e4n\u00e4&#8221;, joka paljastaa hiilidioksidin l\u00e4sn\u00e4olon. Hauskana yksityiskohtana samaa kalsiumkloridia, joka ei aiheuttanut sameutta, k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n talvisin teiden sulatusaineena sek\u00e4 kosteudenpoistajissa kodeissa.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Jos haluat n\u00e4hd\u00e4 todella n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4n valkoisen saostuman toisessa neutraloitumisreaktiossa, kokeile rikkihapon ja bariumhydroksidin yhdistelm\u00e4\u00e4.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div class=\"math-block\" style=\"text-align: center;\" data-math=\"H_2SO_4 + Ba(OH)_2 \\longrightarrow BaSO_4 + 2H_2O\">\\[H_2SO_4 + Ba(OH)_2 \\longrightarrow BaSO_4 + 2H_2O\\]<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>T\u00e4ss\u00e4 syntyv\u00e4 <b>bariumsulfaatti<\/b> ei liukene veteen lainkaan. Se on sama aine, jota k\u00e4ytet\u00e4\u00e4n sairaaloissa varjoaineena niin sanotussa &#8220;bariumtutkimuksessa&#8221;.
