Detr\u00e1s de ese movimiento tan extra\u00f1o se esconde una incre\u00edble ley de la f\u00edsica llamada \u201cefecto girosc\u00f3pico\u201d, la misma que ayuda a estabilizar desde bicicletas hasta cohetes espaciales.<\/p>\n<h3>Mi encuentro con el \u201cX Launcher 2\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Hace poco compr\u00e9 un juguete llamado <b>X Launcher 2<\/b>. Consiste en un <b>anillo de espuma ligera<\/b> que se coloca en un lanzador; al hacerlo girar a gran velocidad y dispararlo, sale flotando suavemente mientras mantiene una postura incre\u00edblemente estable. Cient\u00edficamente es fascinante. Cuando est\u00e1 quieto, se cae enseguida. Pero cuando gira r\u00e1pidamente, permanece erguido durante bastante tiempo. Eso es precisamente el efecto girosc\u00f3pico. Un <b>objeto en rotaci\u00f3n intenta conservar la direcci\u00f3n de su eje de giro<\/b>. En f\u00edsica esto se conoce como la <b>conservaci\u00f3n del momento angular<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>El anillo del X Launcher 2 comienza a girar violentamente justo al ser lanzado. Pues no. El efecto girosc\u00f3pico aparece constantemente en nuestra vida diaria.<\/p>\n<p>Por ejemplo, en una <b>bicicleta<\/b>. Cuando est\u00e1 en movimiento es relativamente f\u00e1cil mantener el equilibrio, pero al detenerse empieza a tambalearse. Parte de esa estabilidad se debe a que las ruedas girando generan un efecto girosc\u00f3pico.<\/p>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n los <b>cohetes espaciales y los sat\u00e9lites<\/b> utilizan giroscopios para controlar su orientaci\u00f3n y mantener la direcci\u00f3n correcta en el espacio.<\/p>\n<p>Y no acaba ah\u00ed: dentro de tu <b>smartphone<\/b> tambi\u00e9n hay peque\u00f1os sensores girosc\u00f3picos. Gracias a ellos la pantalla puede rotar autom\u00e1ticamente y muchos juegos detectan los movimientos del dispositivo. As\u00ed que, mientras lees esto, probablemente tu m\u00f3vil est\u00e9 usando f\u00edsica avanzada sin que te des cuenta.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 tiene forma de anillo?<\/h3>\n<p>La forma de anillo del X Launcher 2 tampoco es casualidad.<\/p>\n<p>Un <b>anillo distribuye su masa de manera uniforme lejos del centro<\/b>, lo que hace que sea especialmente estable al girar. En f\u00edsica se dice que tiene un <b>gran momento de inercia<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Es el mismo principio por el cual una patinadora art\u00edstica gira m\u00e1s despacio cuando extiende los brazos. Cuanta m\u00e1s masa se concentra lejos del eje, m\u00e1s tiempo se mantiene el movimiento de rotaci\u00f3n.
