Cada d\u00eda es un experimento.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00bfAlguna vez has mirado un acuario desde abajo y sentido que el cielo aparece como si estuviera recortado en un c\u00edrculo perfecto? Es una experiencia curiosa, casi m\u00e1gica. Yo la viv\u00ed en el acuario de Sumida, frente al tanque de los ping\u00fcinos. En el fondo azul del agua, parec\u00eda flotar una ventana redonda que dejaba ver el mundo exterior. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 ocurre esto? En realidad, es un elegante truco de la naturaleza basado en dos conceptos que se estudian en f\u00edsica de bachillerato: la refracci\u00f3n y la reflexi\u00f3n total de la luz.<\/p>\n<h3>Un paisaje sorprendente en el acuario de Sumida<\/h3>\n<p>Hace poco visit\u00e9 el <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sumida-aquarium.com\/\">Acuario de Sumida<\/a>. Su gran atractivo es un enorme tanque interior donde nadan ping\u00fcinos. Desde el segundo piso, al asomarte, se aprecia claramente el azul del fondo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"20130804131400\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com\/images\/fotolife\/k\/kkuwako\/20130804\/20130804131400.jpg\" alt=\"20130804131400\" width=\"473\" height=\"355\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Desde el segundo piso se distingue bien el fondo azul del tanque<\/p>\n<p>Luego, al bajar al primer piso, puedes mirar el tanque desde abajo. Vamos a descubrirlo.<\/p>\n<h3>La clave: refracci\u00f3n y reflexi\u00f3n total<\/h3>\n<p>La explicaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 en dos propiedades de la luz: cuando pasa del agua al aire, cambia de direcci\u00f3n, lo que llamamos refracci\u00f3n; y cuando el \u00e1ngulo es demasiado grande, la luz ya no puede salir del agua y se refleja completamente, fen\u00f3meno conocido como reflexi\u00f3n total.<\/p>\n<p>Cuando miras desde abajo en diagonal, la luz del techo se refracta en la superficie del agua y llega a tus ojos. Ese \u00e1ngulo l\u00edmite se llama \u00e1ngulo cr\u00edtico. Si consideramos que el \u00edndice de refracci\u00f3n del aire es aproximadamente 1 y el del agua 1.33, el \u00e1ngulo cr\u00edtico es de unos 48 grados. Por eso, en tres dimensiones, aparece como una ventana redonda. Ese es el secreto de esta \u201cventana m\u00e1gica\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>En realidad, tambi\u00e9n hay refracci\u00f3n en el vidrio del tanque, por lo que el \u00e1ngulo es ligeramente mayor que 48 grados.<\/p>\n<h3>El mundo que ven los ping\u00fcinos<\/h3>\n<p>Observa otra vez la foto tomada desde arriba. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"20130804131400\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn-ak.f.st-hatena.com\/images\/fotolife\/k\/kkuwako\/20130804\/20130804131400.jpg\" alt=\"20130804131400\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Desde arriba, el fondo azul se ve por completo. Pero desde dentro del agua, solo puedes ver el exterior a trav\u00e9s de esa ventana circular. Es bastante sorprendente.<\/p>\n<p>En realidad, los ping\u00fcinos tambi\u00e9n nos ven a trav\u00e9s de esa ventana. Para ellos, el cielo no cubre toda la superficie, sino que aparece como un peque\u00f1o c\u00edrculo. Este fen\u00f3meno, en el que los animales acu\u00e1ticos observan el mundo exterior a trav\u00e9s de una \u201cventana\u201d, se conoce como ventana de Snell y es muy conocido entre los fot\u00f3grafos submarinos.<\/p>\n<p>Si visitas el acuario de Sumida, no dejes de mirar el tanque desde abajo.
