El hecho de que pase directamente a gas sin convertirse en l\u00edquido parece casi magia. Pero en realidad, en este cambio nada cotidiano se esconden un mont\u00f3n de fascinantes leyes de la f\u00edsica y la qu\u00edmica. Esta vez, aprovechando hielo seco que sobr\u00f3 de un experimento con c\u00e1mara de niebla para radiaci\u00f3n, me puse a probar varios experimentos.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Un registro de la \u201csublimaci\u00f3n\u201d en time-lapse<\/h3>\n<p>Primero, grab\u00e9 en time-lapse c\u00f3mo el hielo seco se va sublimando. Utilic\u00e9 1 kg de hielo seco e intent\u00e9 grabar durante 3 horas\u2026 pero sorprendentemente, \u00a1ni siquiera se consumi\u00f3 por completo! Sin embargo, no es el propio hielo seco convertido en gas (di\u00f3xido de carbono), sino vapor de agua del aire que se enfr\u00eda y se convierte en diminutas gotas de agua o cristales de hielo. Es exactamente el mismo fen\u00f3meno por el que el aliento se vuelve blanco en una ma\u00f1ana fr\u00eda de invierno. Este cambio se llama sublimaci\u00f3n. Como la fricci\u00f3n es pr\u00e1cticamente cero, el objeto sigue movi\u00e9ndose en l\u00ednea recta a velocidad constante sin necesidad de aplicar fuerza: es la primera ley de Newton (la ley de la inercia) en acci\u00f3n justo delante de tus ojos. Este principio tambi\u00e9n se utiliza en f\u00e1bricas para mover objetos pesados y en mesas de air hockey.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1Las tijeras tiemblan! Y nace una nube blanca<\/h3>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 pasa si colocas unas tijeras sobre el hielo seco? Esto sucede porque el gas de di\u00f3xido de carbono que sale desde abajo las levanta y las deja caer repetidamente. Alrededor del hielo seco aparece una nube blanca, formada porque el vapor de agua del aire se enfr\u00eda y se condensa, exactamente igual que las nubes reales. El agua transmite calor al hielo seco, acelerando el proceso de cambio a gas. De hecho, muchas \u201cm\u00e1quinas de humo\u201d usadas en conciertos o pel\u00edculas funcionan con este mismo principio. Incluso en el entretenimiento cotidiano, la ciencia est\u00e1 muy presente.<\/p>\n<p>Si alguna vez consigues hielo seco, te animo a experimentar por tu cuenta.
