Hablo de ese juguete donde insertas la punta de un bol\u00edgrafo en un peque\u00f1o engranaje con agujeros y, al girarlo una y otra vez, ves aparecer m\u00e1gicamente figuras geom\u00e9tricas complejas y hermosas.<\/p>\n<p>Lo cierto es que, detr\u00e1s de esos patrones entrelazados, se esconde un mundo matem\u00e1tico fascinante que conecta incluso con las leyes del universo. Al colocar un l\u00e1piz en uno de ellos y hacer rodar el engranaje dentro de un anillo m\u00e1s grande, se crean dibujos. Aunque el movimiento es repetitivo y simple, el resultado final es tan detallado como un caleidoscopio. Decidi\u00f3 deducir por su cuenta la f\u00f3rmula matem\u00e1tica para crear estos patrones y me la mostr\u00f3 entusiasmado: \u00a1Profe, con esto podemos recrear el espir\u00f3grafo en la computadora!. Lo que parece un dise\u00f1o complicad\u00edsimo es, en realidad, la combinaci\u00f3n de movimientos sencillos: c\u00edrculos girando sobre otros c\u00edrculos.<\/p>\n<h3>Arte geom\u00e9trico en movimiento digital<\/h3>\n<p>Bas\u00e1ndonos en las f\u00f3rmulas que ide\u00f3 este alumno, utilizamos la calculadora gr\u00e1fica Desmos para recrear estos dise\u00f1os. Por eso, en la f\u00f3rmula aparecen las funciones sin (seno) y cos (coseno) que se estudian en la escuela secundaria.<\/p>\n<p>Fue un momento m\u00e1gico ver c\u00f3mo la curiosidad de un adolescente se transformaba en arte digital a trav\u00e9s del lenguaje universal de las matem\u00e1ticas. A veces, las semillas de la ciencia m\u00e1s profunda y bella est\u00e1n escondidas en nuestros juegos cotidianos.
