Si comparamos el nacimiento de la Tierra hasta el presente con un solo &#8220;c\u00edrculo&#8221; o &#8220;un d\u00eda completo&#8221;, nos dar\u00edamos cuenta de que la humanidad es apenas una reci\u00e9n llegada que apareci\u00f3 hace un suspiro.<\/p>\n<p>En esta ocasi\u00f3n, inspirados por una exhibici\u00f3n del Museo Nacional de Naturaleza y Ciencia en Ueno, vamos a desentra\u00f1ar el \u00e9pico drama de 4.600 millones de a\u00f1os de historia terrestre desde una perspectiva cient\u00edfica.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfY si vemos los 4.600 millones de a\u00f1os en un solo gr\u00e1fico?<br \/>\nEl Museo Nacional de Naturaleza y Ciencia tiene una exhibici\u00f3n fant\u00e1stica que condensa la historia de nuestro planeta en un solo disco. Casi el 90% de la historia de la Tierra transcurri\u00f3 sin organismos grandes que pudieran verse a simple vista.<\/p>\n<p>El &#8220;periodo de vac\u00edo&#8221; y el nacimiento del ox\u00edgeno<br \/>\nSe cree que durante los primeros 600 millones de a\u00f1os (desde hace 4.600 hasta hace 4.000 millones de a\u00f1os), la vida a\u00fan no exist\u00eda. Durante el e\u00f3n Arcaico, aparecieron organismos como las cianobacterias, capaces de realizar la fotos\u00edntesis y generar ox\u00edgeno. Al llegar el e\u00f3n Proterozoico, empezaron a surgir los primeros organismos multicelulares de gran tama\u00f1o. Gracias a este largu\u00edsimo &#8220;periodo de preparaci\u00f3n&#8221;, fue posible la asombrosa explosi\u00f3n de diversidad que ver\u00edamos despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>El drama de la vida se acelera: Paleozoico, Mesozoico y Cenozoico<br \/>\nHace unos 540 millones de a\u00f1os, ocurri\u00f3 finalmente la &#8220;explosi\u00f3n de la vida&#8221;. A partir de aqu\u00ed, la velocidad de la evoluci\u00f3n es vertiginosa.<\/p>\n<p>1. Paleozoico (hace 540 a 250 millones de a\u00f1os)<br \/>\nCon la &#8220;explosi\u00f3n c\u00e1mbrica&#8221;, aparecieron en el mar criaturas de formas extra\u00f1as como el Anomalocaris, los trilobites y los primeros peces. Hace 360 millones de a\u00f1os, los anfibios conquistaron la tierra firme, y hace 300 millones de a\u00f1os ya asomaban los ancestros de los mam\u00edferos.<\/p>\n<p>2. Mesozoico (hace 250 a 66 millones de a\u00f1os)<br \/>\nLa era dorada de los dinosaurios. El Stegosaurus (Jur\u00e1sico) y el Tyrannosaurus (Cret\u00e1cico) dominaban la Tierra. Mientras tanto, los primeros mam\u00edferos viv\u00edan discretamente en el mundo nocturno, temerosos de los gigantes. Hace 150 millones de a\u00f1os aparecieron las aves, pero hace 66 millones de a\u00f1os, el impacto de un meteorito gigante extingui\u00f3 a los dinosaurios y a los amonites.<\/p>\n<p>3. Cenozoico (hace 66 millones de a\u00f1os hasta la actualidad)<br \/>\nEn un mundo sin dinosaurios, los mam\u00edferos se diversificaron y crecieron r\u00e1pidamente. Tras la era de los mamuts, los primeros &#8220;humanos&#8221; (como el Homo habilis) aparecieron hace apenas 2,6 millones de a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>La humanidad: el &#8220;estudiante nuevo&#8221; que lleg\u00f3 en el \u00faltimo minuto<br \/>\nSi representamos los 4.600 millones de a\u00f1os en un gr\u00e1fico circular, la historia de la humanidad ser\u00eda una l\u00ednea tan fina que no se ver\u00eda a simple vista.
