Recently, I came across a wonderful item that lets you explore this charm through an artistic puzzle.<\/p>\n

Pure Magic? “Pitland,” the Mysterious Puzzle Connected by Magnets<\/h3>\n

I recently received a toy called Pitland<\/a>, which brilliantly utilizes the properties of magnets and iron. It turned out to be far more profound than I expected, sparking my curiosity as a science teacher. I just had to share it with you.<\/p>\n

The mechanics are simple. The base contains a powerful magnet<\/b>, and the accompanying pieces\u2014like little figures\u2014are all made of iron<\/b>.<\/p>\n

At first glance, these iron figures won’t stick to each other. However, once you place them on the base… it\u2019s as if they gain a will of their own, connecting one after another in a chain.<\/p>\n

Turning Iron into Magnets? The Secret of “Magnetic Permeability”<\/h3>\n

Why do these iron figures, which aren’t magnets themselves, stick together? The secret lies in a fascinating scientific property called magnetic permeability<\/b>.<\/p>\n

Iron has a high capacity to allow magnetic force to pass through it. When the magnetic field lines<\/b> radiating from the base magnet flow through an iron figure, that figure temporarily takes on the properties of a magnet itself.<\/p>\n

Once one figure becomes magnetized, you can attach another one to it. By passing the magnetic baton like this, you can stack the figures in exquisite, gravity-defying balances<\/b> that you would never think possible.<\/p>\n

Magnetic Art for Everyone: From Middle Schoolers to Adults<\/h3>\n

I received the Firefighter set, and before I knew it, I was completely absorbed\u2014connecting figures to extend a ladder or balancing them on tiny, fingertip-sized contact points. Even as an adult, I lost myself in the process.<\/p>\n

While magnetic force is invisible, the “click” and pull as a figure snaps into place lets you truly feel the flow of energy<\/b>. It is a perfect educational tool for science-loving students and a great way for adults to relax and de-stress.<\/p>\n
