Cada d\u00eda es un nuevo experimento.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>En las clases de ciencias de tercer a\u00f1o de secundaria, hay una unidad donde muchos estudiantes suelen tropezar, pero que al mismo tiempo les hace brillar los ojos de entusiasmo. Se trata del <b>funcionamiento de las bater\u00edas<\/b>. Usamos smartphones y controles remotos a diario sin pensarlo mucho. Sabemos que funcionan porque tienen bater\u00eda, pero si nos preguntaran &#8220;\u00bfpor qu\u00e9 se genera la electricidad?&#8221;, curiosamente muy pocos sabr\u00edan responder de inmediato.<\/p>\n<p>Hoy quiero hablarles sobre un <b>peque\u00f1o truco (experimento previo)<\/b> que siempre realizo para comprender m\u00e1s a fondo estos experimentos. En lugar de fabricar una bater\u00eda de golpe, detenerse un paso antes es el camino m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido para cultivar el pensamiento cient\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1No los conectes todav\u00eda! Primero, habla con ellos a solas<\/h3>\n<p>Los libros de texto suelen presentar directamente el procedimiento de conectar dos tipos de metales (como zinc y cobre) con un cable e introducirlos en \u00e1cido clorh\u00eddrico. Pero, un momento.<\/p>\n<p>Si mostramos el resultado final desde el principio, los alumnos tienden a conformarse con el simple hecho de que &#8220;salen burbujas al meterlos en el \u00e1cido&#8221;. Por eso, antes de montar la bater\u00eda, siempre realizo este experimento previo: <b>\u00bfQu\u00e9 pasa si metemos cada metal por separado en el \u00e1cido?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Para esto, presentamos a nuestros tres competidores: <b>la placa de zinc, la placa de cobre y la varilla de carbono<\/b>.<\/p>\n<h3>Conociendo la personalidad de cada material<\/h3>\n<p>Al introducirlos uno por uno en el \u00e1cido clorh\u00eddrico, la personalidad de cada metal (su diferencia en la tendencia de ionizaci\u00f3n) se vuelve evidente. El caso del Zinc:<\/b> En el instante en que toca el \u00e1cido, empieza a burbujear con fuerza. Es la prueba de que el zinc se est\u00e1 disolviendo y liberando gas hidr\u00f3geno. El caso del Cobre:<\/b> Al meterlo&#8230; silencio total. A primera vista parece que no pasa nada. No hay burbujas. Sin embargo, al sacarlo, hay un cambio sorprendente: \u00a1la superficie est\u00e1 <b>reluciente y brillante<\/b>! Antes no sal\u00edan burbujas del cobre, pero <b>\u00a1en cuanto los conecto, empiezan a salir burbujas de la placa de cobre!<\/b>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Este asombro es el motor que nos permite profundizar en el movimiento de los electrones y la verdadera naturaleza de la corriente el\u00e9ctrica. Algo que no ocurr\u00eda por separado, sucede al estar conectados. Esa es la verdadera magia de las bater\u00edas.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 incluimos la varilla de carbono?<\/h3>\n<p>Por cierto, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 incluimos en el grupo al <b>carbono<\/b>, que ni siquiera es un metal?<\/p>\n<p>En realidad, si antes de este experimento mostramos c\u00f3mo es por dentro una <b>pila com\u00fan de manganeso<\/b>, la raz\u00f3n se entiende perfectamente.
