By reacting this with hydrogen peroxide, it acts as a <b>catalyst to generate oxygen<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>This is the moment when a &#8220;dead battery&#8221; stops being trash and becomes a <b>resource for the next discovery<\/b>. I want all students to see this as a perfect example of the &#8220;cycle of resources.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Safety Rules: Must Read!<\/h3>\n<p>For all the curious minds out there, I need you to promise me three things:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <b>NEVER disassemble an alkaline battery!<\/b>: The electrolyte in alkaline batteries is highly caustic. If it touches your skin, it can cause chemical burns, and if it gets in your eyes, there is a serious risk of blindness. Only the simpler manganese batteries are suitable for this.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <b>Adult supervision is mandatory!<\/b>: You\u2019ll be using sharp tools and handling chemical substances. Always work with a teacher or a parent.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 <b>Wear safety goggles and gloves<\/b>: Safety is always the top priority in any experiment.<\/p>\n<p>Getting your hands on real materials makes science so much more profound.
