Lo que a primera vista parece un simple palito, \u00a1podr\u00eda ser en realidad una <b>varita m\u00e1gica<\/b> capaz de darle la vuelta al mundo! Cuando en clase de ciencia aprendemos sobre el mecanismo de las lentes, solemos usar la estructura de una c\u00e1mara como ejemplo. Sin embargo, las lentes que est\u00e1n m\u00e1s cerca de nuestra vida diaria se esconden en las <b>gotas de agua perfectamente redondas<\/b> que brillan como joyas sobre las hojas despu\u00e9s de la lluvia, o dentro de las <b>canicas<\/b> que encontramos en los puestos de los festivales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Si miras una hoja a trav\u00e9s de una gota de agua, ver\u00e1s las nervaduras expandirse de forma din\u00e1mica, y si miras tu dedo a trav\u00e9s de una canica, tus huellas dactilares se ver\u00e1n gigantescas, como un laberinto. Estos &#8220;descubrimientos cotidianos&#8221; son la verdadera puerta de entrada a la ciencia. Cuando les hablo a mis estudiantes, no es el diagrama preciso de una c\u00e1mara lo que les impresiona, sino la experiencia de &#8220;\u00a1Mis huellas se ven enormes con la gota de agua!&#8221;. Vienen a informarme con los ojos brillantes, diciendo: &#8220;\u00a1Profesor, lo vi!&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hoy vamos a explorar el misterioso poder de lente que posee una simple <b>varilla de vidrio<\/b> (o un removedor de vidrio) que podemos encontrar tanto en el laboratorio de ciencias de la escuela como en la cocina de casa.<\/p>\n<h3>Receta cient\u00edfica: el experimento que invierte el mundo<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Materiales: Una varilla de vidrio (o un removedor cil\u00edndrico transparente), un texto impreso invertido verticalmente.<\/p>\n<h3>M\u00e9todo del experimento y resultados sorprendentes<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">Para empezar, prepare flechas o letras como las que se muestran a continuaci\u00f3n y coloque la varilla de vidrio encima. De las flechas que originalmente apuntaban &#8216;arriba, abajo, derecha, izquierda&#8217;, \u00bfcu\u00e1les cambiaron de direcci\u00f3n? \u00a1Exacto! Las que originalmente apuntaban a Abajo y a Arriba se invirtieron, quedando abajo, arriba, derecha, izquierda. Solo la direcci\u00f3n vertical se invirti\u00f3. Los lados se mantuvieron igual. El texto, que fue escrito previamente con una &#8220;inversi\u00f3n vertical&#8221;, se invierte de nuevo por el efecto de lente de la varilla de vidrio, mostr\u00e1ndose correctamente a nuestros ojos. La clave aqu\u00ed no es simplemente ponerlo al rev\u00e9s, sino la <b>&#8220;inversi\u00f3n vertical&#8221; diferente a la escritura especular<\/b>. Hay una gran satisfacci\u00f3n en desentra\u00f1ar este truco visual.<\/p>\n<h3>La magia de la &#8220;ampliaci\u00f3n&#8221; creada por el punto focal<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\">La parte m\u00e1s interesante viene ahora. Al acercar la varilla de vidrio al papel, el texto no se invierte, sino que simplemente se ve <b>enormemente ampliado<\/b>. Esto sucede porque el texto ha entrado <b>dentro del punto focal<\/b> (el punto donde se concentra la luz) de la varilla de vidrio. En este estado, lo que vemos no es una &#8220;imagen real&#8221;, sino una imagen virtual, tal como ocurre con una lupa.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u00bfNo es genial poder experimentar la refracci\u00f3n de la luz y el mecanismo del punto focal de forma tan din\u00e1mica con solo una varilla de vidrio que tenemos a mano? Al preguntarnos &#8220;\u00bfpor qu\u00e9?&#8221; y probarlo en la pr\u00e1ctica, nuestra forma de ver el mundo cambia poco a poco. Los invito a tomar un removedor de su cocina e intentar descifrar el mensaje secreto.
