Es dif\u00edcil imaginar los movimientos din\u00e1micos que ocurren bajo nuestros pies con solo escuchar n\u00fameros o ver mapas planos en las noticias sobre la &#8220;profundidad del hipocentro.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pero, \u00bfqu\u00e9 pasar\u00eda si pudieras ver los epicentros de los terremotos pasados en la Tierra como si estuvieras viendo a trav\u00e9s del planeta desde el espacio, en tres dimensiones y codificados por color seg\u00fan su profundidad? Los ojos de tus estudiantes se iluminar\u00edan, y el &#8220;contenido del libro de texto&#8221; se transformar\u00eda en la &#8220;verdadera forma del planeta en el que viven.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hoy, presentamos una t\u00e9cnica poderosa que hace posible esta experiencia: la combinaci\u00f3n de Google Earth y los datos s\u00edsmicos del USGS (Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos). De hecho, puedes &#8220;visualizar&#8221; la &#8220;actividad invisible&#8221; del interior de la Tierra con pasos sorprendentemente sencillos. \u00a1Aseg\u00farate de aplicarlo en tu pr\u00f3xima clase o en el aprendizaje en casa!<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1Mira el Pulso de la Tierra! Pasos de Configuraci\u00f3n de Google Earth<\/h3>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, te mostramos c\u00f3mo mapear los terremotos ocurridos en todo el mundo en Google Earth. La fuente de datos que utilizaremos es el sitio web del USGS (Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos), que cubre datos s\u00edsmicos a nivel mundial. Aunque est\u00e1 en ingl\u00e9s, \u00a1no te preocupes, el procedimiento es muy simple!<\/p>\n<p>Primero, accede a la p\u00e1gina de publicaci\u00f3n de datos del USGS aqu\u00ed:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/earthquakes\/feed\/v1.0\/kml.php\">https:\/\/earthquake.usgs.gov\/earthquakes\/feed\/v1.0\/kml.php<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Busca el elemento &#8220;Colored by Depth&#8221; (Coloreado por Profundidad) en el men\u00fa alineado a la derecha de la pantalla. Desde aqu\u00ed, descargaremos el archivo KML (el archivo de datos para Google Earth). No es necesario instalar la aplicaci\u00f3n; la versi\u00f3n web funciona perfectamente. Los misterios de la Tierra que la &#8220;profundidad&#8221; nos revela<\/h3>\n<p>Lo incre\u00edble de estos datos es que los puntos est\u00e1n codificados por color seg\u00fan la profundidad del hipocentro (Colored by Depth). El naranja y el rojo indican terremotos poco profundos, mientras que el morado y el azul se\u00f1alan temblores m\u00e1s profundos. Aqu\u00ed tienes algunos puntos clave desde la perspectiva de un profesor de ciencias sobre c\u00f3mo utilizar esto en clase o para el aprendizaje:<\/p>\n<p>Visualiza los &#8220;Nidos de Terremotos&#8221; Al ver el mapa mundial, se hace evidente que los terremotos no ocurren en cualquier lugar, sino que se concentran en ciertas franjas, como el conocido &#8220;Cintur\u00f3n de Fuego del Pac\u00edfico&#8221;, que aparece con total claridad. La pregunta &#8220;\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 hay tantos terremotos aqu\u00ed?&#8221; conecta de forma natural con el estudio de la Tect\u00f3nica de Placas.<\/p>\n<p>Siente la Placa Sumergida (Zona Wadati-Benioff) \u00a1Este es el punto culminante! Haz zoom en las inmediaciones del archipi\u00e9lago japon\u00e9s. Observar\u00e1s que hay muchos terremotos poco profundos (rojo\/naranja) cerca de la Fosa de Jap\u00f3n (lado del oc\u00e9ano), y a medida que se avanza hacia el lado continental a trav\u00e9s de Jap\u00f3n, los hipocentros se vuelven m\u00e1s profundos (azul\/verde). Esta es la prueba de que la placa oce\u00e1nica se est\u00e1 deslizando, zu-zu-zu, por debajo de la placa continental. \u00a1La &#8220;Zona de Subducci\u00f3n&#8221; que solo se ve en los diagramas de los libros de texto aparece ante ti con datos reales! Esto har\u00e1 que los estudiantes exclamen: &#8220;\u00a1Es verdad, se est\u00e1 hundiendo!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Conciencia de Prevenci\u00f3n como Algo &#8220;Personal&#8221; Al revisar la distribuci\u00f3n s\u00edsmica alrededor de Jap\u00f3n, podemos reconocer objetivamente que vivimos en una zona de intensa actividad s\u00edsmica. Este impacto visual es crucial para &#8220;temer correctamente&#8221; y desarrollar una conciencia de prevenci\u00f3n personal.<\/p>\n<p>No solo ver un mapa plano, sino la experiencia de girar y &#8220;tocar&#8221; virtualmente el planeta.
