Suena a truco de magia, pero es pura ciencia. Hoy les presento un dispositivo sorprendente que aprovecha las propiedades del aire: el <b>&#8220;pist\u00f3n de fuego&#8221; (o encendedor por compresi\u00f3n)<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Una imagen vale m\u00e1s que mil palabras. Sigamos los pasos del experimento para desvelar el misterio.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1Cuesti\u00f3n de un instante! El proceso del experimento<\/h3>\n<p>El mecanismo de este dispositivo es muy sencillo. Solo consta de un tubo transparente y un pist\u00f3n que se empuja por su interior. Por muchas veces que lo haga, este momento siempre me sobresalta. Aunque como profesor de ciencias conozca el resultado, ver nacer el fuego ante mis propios ojos sigue siendo emocionante. La explicaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica<\/h3>\n<p>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 ardi\u00f3 el papel si no usamos ninguna herramienta para prender fuego? La clave est\u00e1 en la <b>&#8220;compresi\u00f3n del aire&#8221;<\/b>. En este experimento, comprimimos el gas de golpe, a una velocidad tal que el calor no tuvo tiempo de entrar ni salir. En f\u00edsica, esto se llama <b>&#8220;compresi\u00f3n adiab\u00e1tica&#8221;<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Imaginen un vag\u00f3n de metro lleno de gente donde, de repente, empujamos a m\u00e1s personas hacia dentro a la fuerza. El interior se volver\u00eda un caos y la temperatura subir\u00eda, \u00bfverdad? Lo mismo ocurre aqu\u00ed: al obligar al aire a ocupar un espacio muy reducido a la fuerza, las mol\u00e9culas de aire chocan violentamente entre s\u00ed y esa energ\u00eda se transforma en &#8220;calor&#8221;. En ese momento, la temperatura dentro del tubo es tan alta que supera el punto de ignici\u00f3n del papel.<\/p>\n<h4>Entendiendo la f\u00edsica (Primera Ley de la Termodin\u00e1mica)<\/h4>\n<p>Podemos entender este fen\u00f3meno mucho mejor si utilizamos la f\u00f3rmula de la &#8220;Primera Ley de la Termodin\u00e1mica&#8221; que se estudia en el bachillerato.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>Q\u3000\uff1d\u3000\u0394U\u3000+\u3000W<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Calor\u3000\uff1d\u3000Cambio en la energ\u00eda interna\u3000\uff0b\u3000Trabajo realizado por el gas<\/p>\n<p>En este caso, como la compresi\u00f3n es instant\u00e1nea, no hay intercambio de calor (es adiab\u00e1tico). Es decir, <b>Q\uff1d\uff10<\/b>. Transformemos la ecuaci\u00f3n:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\uff10\u3000\uff1d\u3000\u0394U\u3000\uff0b\u3000W<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><b>\u30fcW\u3000\uff1d\u3000\u0394U<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Aqu\u00ed, &#8220;\u30fcW&#8221; significa que &#8220;se realiz\u00f3 trabajo sobre el gas (el ser humano empuj\u00f3 el pist\u00f3n)&#8221;.
