Hoy vamos a explorar la fascinante relaci\u00f3n entre la &#8220;fuerza (presi\u00f3n)&#8221; y el &#8220;tama\u00f1o (volumen)&#8221; del aire con un experimento sobre la &#8220;Ley de Boyle&#8221;. \u00a1Quiz\u00e1s resolvamos el misterio de por qu\u00e9 las bolsas de patatas se inflan tanto en la cima de una monta\u00f1a!<\/p>\n<h3>Los instrumentos que utilizamos en el experimento<\/h3>\n<p>Lo que usamos esta vez fue un kit de experimentos de la empresa Narika. El contenido es sencillo: una jeringa grande, un man\u00f3metro (medidor de presi\u00f3n) y un tubo de goma para conectarlos. \u00a1Pero con esto, podemos desvelar los secretos del aire!<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1Comienza el experimento! Comprimimos el aire<\/h3>\n<p>Primero, la configuraci\u00f3n. Conectamos el tubo de goma a la jeringa y tambi\u00e9n el man\u00f3metro. Este valor es casi id\u00e9ntico a la presi\u00f3n atmosf\u00e9rica (la presi\u00f3n causada por el peso del aire) a la que estamos expuestos en nuestra vida diaria.<\/p>\n<p>A partir de aqu\u00ed, presionamos el \u00e9mbolo de la jeringa. La hermosa relaci\u00f3n entre presi\u00f3n y volumen<\/h3>\n<p>Ajustando la fuerza con la que empujamos, medimos el volumen del aire en cada momento: cuando la presi\u00f3n es de 100 kPa (al inicio), cuando sube a 110 kPa, a 120 kPa, y as\u00ed sucesivamente. Esta curva es exactamente el gr\u00e1fico de &#8220;proporcionalidad inversa&#8221; que aprendimos en matem\u00e1ticas. En otras palabras, se esconde la relaci\u00f3n de que &#8220;si reduces el volumen a la mitad, la presi\u00f3n se duplica&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 es una proporcionalidad inversa?<\/h3>\n<p>Entonces, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 existe esta relaci\u00f3n? El aire es invisible, pero est\u00e1 lleno de peque\u00f1as &#8220;part\u00edculas de aire (mol\u00e9culas)&#8221; que se mueven por todas partes. La presi\u00f3n se genera porque estas part\u00edculas chocan constantemente contra las paredes de la jeringa.<\/p>\n<p>Si presionas la jeringa y reduces el volumen (el &#8220;espacio&#8221;), \u00bfqu\u00e9 pasa? El espacio para que las part\u00edculas se muevan se reduce, por lo que el n\u00famero de veces que chocan contra las paredes aumenta, \u00bfverdad? Esto es lo que significa que &#8220;la presi\u00f3n sube&#8221;. Si el volumen se reduce a la mitad, la frecuencia de los choques simplemente se duplica. Por eso, la presi\u00f3n y el volumen tienen una hermosa relaci\u00f3n de proporcionalidad inversa. Esto es, ni m\u00e1s ni menos, la &#8220;Ley de Boyle&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3>El desaf\u00edo en el aula<\/h3>\n<p>Compr\u00e9 un juego de este kit de experimentos y lo puse a prueba inmediatamente con los estudiantes en clase. Hicimos que un estudiante representante presionara y jalara el \u00e9mbolo, mientras todos le\u00edan las marcas, tomaban notas y dibujaban los puntos en el papel cuadriculado.<\/p>\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de simplemente aprender en el libro de texto que &#8220;es una relaci\u00f3n inversa&#8221;, esta experiencia de &#8220;ver con los ojos, sentir con las manos y dibujar en un gr\u00e1fico&#8221; les permiti\u00f3 comprender realmente las propiedades del aire.
