Este fen\u00f3meno de &#8220;flotar a pesar de ser pesado&#8221; es precisamente lo que hace que este experimento sea tan fascinante. Este resultado, que va en contra de nuestra intuici\u00f3n, nos ense\u00f1a que la relaci\u00f3n entre el &#8220;peso&#8221; y la &#8220;flotabilidad&#8221; es, de hecho, mucho m\u00e1s profunda de lo que pensamos.<\/p>\n<p>\u203b El maestro O me sugiri\u00f3 este experimento. Me sorprendi\u00f3 que se tomara la molestia de conseguir una bola de boliche para ponerlo en pr\u00e1ctica.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1No es solo el &#8220;peso&#8221;! El Secreto de la Flotabilidad<\/h3>\n<p><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Usar la bola de boliche<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> es la clave. Ver\u00e1n, las bolas de boliche tienen una unidad de peso llamada &#8220;libra&#8221; (pound), y <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">hay bolas que flotan y otras que no, dependiendo de su peso en libras<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">. Incluso dentro de las bolas de boliche, la flotabilidad cambia si var\u00edan el peso y el <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">volumen en relaci\u00f3n a ese peso<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Las bolas de boliche tienen un tama\u00f1o exterior casi id\u00e9ntico, pero sus pesos (en libras) var\u00edan mucho, \u00bfverdad? Esto se debe a que el peso se ajusta cambiando la densidad del material dentro de la bola.<\/p>\n<p>El di\u00e1metro de una bola de boliche est\u00e1 estipulado en aproximadamente 21.8 cm (circunferencia de unos 68.6 cm). Por lo tanto, el &#8220;volumen&#8221; de la bola es casi constante, sin importar su peso en libras. Que un objeto flote o se hunda en el agua no depende solo de su peso, sino de su <\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&#8220;densidad&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">. La densidad es la masa (peso) por unidad de volumen. Es decir, representa qu\u00e9 tan &#8220;compacto&#8221; o &#8220;hueco&#8221; est\u00e1. Si la densidad es menor que la del agua, flota; si es mayor, se hunde.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Aunque la bola de boliche parece pesada, hay algunas que tienen una densidad sorprendentemente menor que la del agua gracias a cavidades internas o a la composici\u00f3n de sus materiales.
