Juuri t\u00e4m\u00e4 ilmi\u00f6 \u2013 &#8220;painava mutta kelluva&#8221; \u2013 tekee kokeesta niin mielenkiintoisen. T\u00e4m\u00e4 intuitiotamme vastustava tulos kertoo, ett\u00e4 &#8220;painon&#8221; ja &#8220;kellumisen\/uppoamisen&#8221; suhde on itse asiassa paljon monimutkaisempi.<\/p>\n<p>\u203b PS: Sain t\u00e4m\u00e4n idean opettaja O:lta. Olin todella yll\u00e4ttynyt, kun h\u00e4n oli vaivautunut hankkimaan keilapallon kokeiluun!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Ei vain &#8220;paino&#8221;! Kelluvuuden salaisuus<\/h3>\n<p><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Keilapallon<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> k\u00e4ytt\u00e4minen on t\u00e4ss\u00e4 kikka. Tiesitk\u00f6, ett\u00e4 keilapalloissa on painoyksikk\u00f6 &#8220;pauna&#8221; (pound), ja <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">eri paunaiset pallot kelluvat tai uppoavat<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">? Vaikka pallot n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4t samalta, niiden paino ja <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 14px;\">painoon suhteutettu tilavuus<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"> vaikuttavat kelluvuuteen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Keilapallojen ulkomuoto on l\u00e4hes identtinen, mutta niiden paino (paunat) vaihtelee suuresti, eik\u00f6 vain? T\u00e4m\u00e4 johtuu siit\u00e4, ett\u00e4 painoa s\u00e4\u00e4det\u00e4\u00e4n muuttamalla pallon sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 olevan materiaalin tiheytt\u00e4.<\/p>\n<p>Keilapallojen halkaisija on standardoitu noin 21,8 cm:iin (ymp\u00e4rysmitta noin 68,6 cm). T\u00e4m\u00e4n vuoksi pallon &#8220;tilavuus&#8221; pysyy l\u00e4hes samana paunasta riippumatta. Se, kelluuko vai uppoaako esine vedess\u00e4, ei riipu ainoastaan sen painosta, vaan <\/b><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">&#8220;tiheydest\u00e4&#8221;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">. Tiheys on massaa (painoa) tilavuusyksikk\u00f6\u00e4 kohden. Toisin sanoen se kertoo, kuinka &#8220;tiiviisti pakattu&#8221; vai &#8220;harva&#8221; aine on. Jos tiheys on pienempi kuin vedell\u00e4 (n. 1.0 g\/cm\u00b3), esine kelluu. Jos se on suurempi, se uppoaa.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Vaikka keilapallo n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 painavalta, sen sis\u00e4ll\u00e4 voi olla onteloita tai materiaaliyhdistelm\u00e4 on optimoitu niin, ett\u00e4 sen tiheys onkin yll\u00e4tt\u00e4v\u00e4n pieni, eli pienempi kuin veden. Sen sijaan golf- ja lacrosse-pallot ovat pienempi\u00e4, mutta ne ovat tiiviisti pakattuja, ja niiden tiheys on vett\u00e4 suurempi \u2013 siksi ne uppoavat.<\/p>\n<p>On hauskaa, miten jo arkisilla esineill\u00e4 tehty, hieman suurempi koe voi johtaa n\u00e4in mielenkiintoisiin ja yll\u00e4tt\u00e4viin tieteellisiin l\u00f6yt\u00f6ihin!
