Para este experimento, utilizaremos nada m\u00e1s y nada menos que los caramelos &#8220;Mentos&#8221; y la &#8220;Coca-Cola&#8221;. Un cl\u00e1sico de la hora del snack se transforma r\u00e1pidamente en el protagonista de un experimento cient\u00edfico. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 la uni\u00f3n de estos dos elementos provoca un fen\u00f3meno tan violento? Y lo m\u00e1s importante, \u00bfqu\u00e9 tiene que ver esto con un &#8220;volc\u00e1n&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Acomp\u00e1\u00f1anos a descubrir el secreto detr\u00e1s de esta peque\u00f1a gran erupci\u00f3n que ocurrir\u00e1 en tu escritorio!<\/p>\n<h3><b>\u00a1Preparaci\u00f3n Facil\u00edsima!<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Para este experimento preliminar, esto es todo lo que necesitamos:<\/p>\n<p><b>Botella de Coca-Cola de 300 ml<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Un caramelo Mentos<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Con solo estos dos elementos, puedes hacer aparecer un peque\u00f1o volc\u00e1n en tu mesa. Elegir una botella peque\u00f1a de 300 ml fue un punto clave para una &#8220;observaci\u00f3n segura&#8221;. Al ser una cantidad menor, la fuerza y el volumen de la erupci\u00f3n son relativamente f\u00e1ciles de controlar, lo que nos permiti\u00f3 observar el fen\u00f3meno con calma incluso en interiores. El Mecanismo de la Erupci\u00f3n<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Mientras el Mentos se hunde hacia el fondo de la Coca-Cola, genera burbujas de forma continua a su paso. Este proceso de &#8220;energ\u00eda (burbujas) que brota sin parar desde abajo y empuja el l\u00edquido hacia arriba&#8221; se asemeja mucho al fen\u00f3meno volc\u00e1nico en el que el magma asciende desde una c\u00e1mara magm\u00e1tica subterr\u00e1nea junto con los gases.<\/p>\n<p>Dentro de la Coca-Cola, hay un gas llamado &#8220;di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2)&#8221; que ha sido forzado a disolverse en el l\u00edquido bajo una alta presi\u00f3n. Esto es exactamente lo mismo que ocurre en las profundidades de la c\u00e1mara magm\u00e1tica, donde el vapor de agua (H2O) y otros gases est\u00e1n disueltos en el magma debido a la enorme presi\u00f3n. Normalmente, este gas permanece &#8220;tranquilo&#8221;, pero si se le da una oportunidad, \u00a1intentar\u00e1 escapar explosivamente!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Y el &#8220;Mentos&#8221; es precisamente el que crea esa &#8220;oportunidad&#8221;! Si observas la superficie del Mentos muy de cerca (\u00a1con una lupa es perfecto!), ver\u00e1s que no es lisa en absoluto; tiene incontables y diminutas imperfecciones. Estas irregularidades se convierten en un &#8220;punto de anclaje&#8221; ideal para que el di\u00f3xido de carbono disuelto en la Coca-Cola se agrupe. En esta multitud de &#8220;puntos de anclaje&#8221;, el CO2 disuelto en el l\u00edquido se transforma de golpe en gas (burbujas). El aumento explosivo de estas burbujas empuja de inmediato a la Coca-Cola (l\u00edquido) que no tiene por d\u00f3nde salir. \u00a1Esa es la verdadera identidad de la erupci\u00f3n Mentos-Coca-Cola!<\/p>\n<p>Dado que usamos una Coca-Cola de 300 ml y un solo Mentos en este experimento, la erupci\u00f3n fue relativamente lenta y suave. Esto se asemeja al tipo de erupci\u00f3n volc\u00e1nica en la vida real donde la lava poco viscosa (m\u00e1s fluida) fluye silenciosamente, como la del Kilauea en Haw\u00e1i.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 har\u00edamos si quisi\u00e9ramos ver una erupci\u00f3n m\u00e1s violenta? \u00a1Hay muchas posibilidades! Quiz\u00e1s si aumentamos la cantidad de Mentos, subimos la temperatura de la Coca-Cola (\u00a1cuidado de no calentarla demasiado!) o incluso cambiamos el tipo de refresco (se dice que la Coca-Cola Zero\/Light da resultados diferentes por su tipo de edulcorante), \u00a1el resultado podr\u00eda cambiar!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1An\u00edmate a probarlo en un lugar seguro y en compa\u00f1\u00eda de un adulto! Si te detienes a pensar en el &#8220;por qu\u00e9&#8221; de lo que sucede, \u00a1tu snack habitual te parecer\u00e1 mucho m\u00e1s interesante!
