Seguramente muchos imaginar\u00e1n esa hermosa forma c\u00f3nica que se alza majestuosa hacia el cielo, como el Monte Fuji. Pero, en realidad, \u00a1existen volcanes en el mundo que parecen gigantescas tortitas planas, o macizas monta\u00f1as rocosas y rugosas!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a1Prep\u00e1rate! En esta ocasi\u00f3n, utilizaremos el conocido Google Maps (Google Earth) para emprender una exploraci\u00f3n volc\u00e1nica que trasciende el tiempo y el espacio. Con solo tu ordenador o smartphone, y comparando sus formas a una misma escala, la din\u00e1mica actividad de la Tierra se har\u00e1 visible ante tus ojos.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1Viaja en el tiempo y el espacio con Google Earth! Compara las formas de los volcanes<\/h3>\n<p>Google Maps y Google Earth tienen un modo de visualizaci\u00f3n en 3D que te permite ver la Tierra de forma tridimensional. Usando esta funci\u00f3n, podr\u00e1s observar volcanes de todo el mundo desde diferentes \u00e1ngulos, \u00a1como si estuvieras volando en un avi\u00f3n!<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Abre Google Earth en tu navegador web (<a href=\"https:\/\/earth.google.com\/\">https:\/\/earth.google.com\/<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Busca el bot\u00f3n de configuraci\u00f3n de vista en la esquina inferior derecha de la pantalla.<\/li>\n<li>Si actualmente est\u00e1 en vista &#8220;2D&#8221;, este bot\u00f3n mostrar\u00e1 &#8220;3D&#8221; o &#8220;Globo&#8221; (o un icono de globo terr\u00e1queo).<\/li>\n<li>Al hacer clic en este bot\u00f3n, la vista cambiar\u00e1 al modo 3D, inclinando el mapa y mostrando edificios y relieves de forma tridimensional.<\/li>\n<li>Puedes inclinar y rotar el mapa libremente para explorar usando el rat\u00f3n o el teclado.<\/li>\n<li>Puedes inclinarlo arrastrando el rat\u00f3n mientras mantienes pulsada la tecla Shift. Modo 3D completo: Si arrastras el rat\u00f3n sobre el mapa mientras mantienes pulsada la tecla Ctrl, puedes mover la vista libremente en cualquier \u00e1ngulo.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Hoy vamos a comparar tres volcanes con personalidades \u00fanicas: uno de Jap\u00f3n, uno de Haw\u00e1i y otro de vuelta en Jap\u00f3n, \u00a1todos a la misma escala! \u00a1Te aseguro que te emocionar\u00e1s con sus asombrosas diferencias!<\/p>\n<h3>Caso 1: El hermoso cono, el &#8220;Monte Fuji&#8221; (Jap\u00f3n)<\/h3>\n<p>Primero, el s\u00edmbolo de nuestro Jap\u00f3n, el mism\u00edsimo Monte Fuji. Al verlo en 3D, \u00a1es una forma c\u00f3nica perfecta que cualquiera reconocer\u00eda como una &#8220;monta\u00f1a&#8221;! La usaremos para comparar con los otros volcanes.<\/p>\n<p>Altura: Aproximadamente 3,776 m<\/p>\n<p>Di\u00e1metro (base): Aproximadamente 35 km \u2013 40 km<\/p>\n<p>A los volcanes con esta forma c\u00f3nica tan bien definida se les llama &#8220;Estratovolcanes&#8221; (Seiso-kazan). Tienen una estructura que parece un gigantesco milhojas, formado por capas alternas de lava viscosa, ceniza volc\u00e1nica y peque\u00f1as rocas que se acumulan durante las erupciones. Por eso adoptan esta forma tan bella.<\/p>\n<h3>Case 2: \u00bfUna vasta llanura? El &#8220;Volc\u00e1n Kilauea&#8221; (Haw\u00e1i)<\/h3>\n<p>A continuaci\u00f3n, cruzaremos el vasto Pac\u00edfico para ver el Volc\u00e1n Kilauea en Haw\u00e1i. Al mostrarlo a la misma escala que el Monte Fuji&#8230; \u00bfqu\u00e9 te parece? M\u00e1s que una monta\u00f1a, \u00bfno parece una meseta negra que se extiende hasta el infinito? Como su nombre indica, se caracteriza por una pendiente suave, similar a un escudo puesto boca abajo en el suelo. Se forma porque la lava que expulsa es muy fluida, extendi\u00e9ndose como el agua y viajando muy lejos. El color negruzco del suelo se debe a las caracter\u00edsticas de este tipo de lava, llamada &#8220;basalto&#8221;, rica en hierro.<\/p>\n<h3>Case 3: El peque\u00f1o gigante, el &#8220;Showa-Shinzan&#8221; (Jap\u00f3n)<\/h3>\n<p>Finalmente, volvemos a Jap\u00f3n para ver el Showa-Shinzan en Hokkaido. Este tipo de volc\u00e1n se llama &#8220;Domo de Lava&#8221; (Yogan D\u014dmu). Se forma porque la lava expulsada era extremadamente pegajosa, como el jarabe de ma\u00edz, y en lugar de fluir lejos, se enfri\u00f3 y se apil\u00f3 en el mismo lugar, formando una c\u00fapula. El color blanquecino se debe a que contiene una alta concentraci\u00f3n de un componente llamado &#8220;di\u00f3xido de silicio&#8221;, que es la fuente de su viscosidad.<\/p>\n<h3>\u00a1El secreto de la forma est\u00e1 en la &#8220;personalidad&#8221; del magma!<\/h3>\n<p>Si todos son volcanes, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 tienen formas y colores tan diferentes? El secreto principal radica en la &#8220;viscosidad&#8221; del magma subterr\u00e1neo, es decir, en su diferencia de personalidad.<\/p>\n<p>Kilauea (Volc\u00e1n en Escudo): Magma fluido como el agua \u2192 Se extiende por una gran \u00e1rea.<\/p>\n<p>Fuji (Estratovolc\u00e1n): Magma espeso como la miel \u2192 Se apilan alternadamente lava y ceniza volc\u00e1nica.<\/p>\n<p>Showa-Shinzan (Domo de Lava): Magma pegajoso como el jarabe de ma\u00edz \u2192 Se amontona en el sitio sin fluir.<\/p>\n<p>Esta diferencia en la personalidad del magma es lo que ha creado la forma y la historia \u00fanicas de cada volc\u00e1n.
