Rautaoksidissa taas rauta pit\u00e4\u00e4 hapesta kiinni, mutta kun seokseen tuodaan tulta, alumiini &#8220;varastaa&#8221; hapen v\u00e4kisin raudalta. T\u00e4m\u00e4n seurauksena happensa menett\u00e4nyt rauta erottuu puhtaaksi raudaksi, ja alumiini muuttuu alumiinioksidiksi. K\u00e4ytimme tarkalleen 1,6 g rautaoksidia ja 0,6 g alumiinijauhetta. Tasainen sekoittaminen huhmareessa on avain onnistumiseen.
